On Monday 13th July, together with other civil society organisations, the Geneva Initiative’s Israeli Director Gadi Baltiansky and Palestinian Director Nidal Foqaha met with the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov and other members of the UNSCO team.
During the meet, we exchanged ideas and recommendations about urgent action and the best ways to prevent unilateral annexation, which all participants agreed would prove destructive to our ability to reach a future peace agreement. Mladenov was particularly interested in activities in both societies and possibilities for future cooperation.
In a Twitter post following the meeting Mladenov wrote, “Your peacebuilding work is an inspiration! Excellent discussion today about the need for dialogue, keeping the prospect of peace alive and the grave risk of annexation.”
