East Jerusalem Tour: Young Leaders

On May 6, we took a group of young Israeli leaders from diverse professional and political backgrounds on a tour of East Jerusalem to see the realities of the conflict first hand. While the situation in East Jerusalem overwhelmed our social media feeds and television stations, we ensured young leaders were granted the opportunity to witness the situation first hand and to hear from the Israelis and Palestinian on the ground. We delved into the current developments and unwrapped the various points of friction, from evictions in Sheikh Jarrah to the erosion of the status quo on the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif, and the significance of the city to both peoples. Alongside identifying the conflict triggers, we focused on the future and examined possible solutions for Jerusalem as part of a permanent agreement: either an open city with two capitals of the two countries, or a hard physical division between Al-Quds and Yerushalayim.
