Education for a Sustainable Peace – In Israeli Parliament

On January 21st, the Special Committee for the Rights of the Child, led by MK Eli Dellal (Likud Party), held a discussion focused on education for sustainable peace.

Michal Sadeh Goldwasser, speaking on behalf of the Geneva Initiative, highlighted the absence of references to peace in Israeli school textbooks. She stressed the urgent need to reintroduce peace into public discourse, demonstrating that it is not only essential but also achievable. Michal called for the re-establishment of the American-Israeli-Palestinian Committee Against Incitement, originally founded by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 1998 but frozen since 2014 due to Israel’s refusal to convene it. “This is a real opportunity to restore the word ‘peace’ in education, public discourse, and policy,” she concluded.
