On August 20th, we held a joint Israeli-Palestinian briefing alongside the Palestinian Peace Coaliton, Peace Now and Zimam attended by over 45 diplomats based out of Israel, Jerusalem and Ramallah and representing European countries, the US, China, Russia, Jordan and more.
The speakers included the GI’s Israeli Director Gadi Baltiansky, the GI’s Palestinian Director Nidal Foqaha, Peace Now’s Director Shaqued Morag and Zimam Palestine’s Deputy Director Mohammed Asida. Each delved into the implications of the UAE-Israel agreement, the obstacles on the road to Palestinian statehood, the ongoing de-facto annexation and offered recommendations on how to keep the issue of the conflict high on the global agenda.
We thanked the international community for their vocal efforts in the fight against annexation, which occurred in sync with our civil society action on the ground, as concrete proof that when the world unites we can generate tangible change.
We were all in agreement that together we must redouble our efforts and harness the new momentum to build a real, long-lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Only then can we take our foot off the pedal.
