How do you solve a problem like Jerusalem? You begin by educating the leaders of tomorrow about the narratives and solutions.
On Friday, a group of young Israeli influencers – parliamentary advisors, journalists, educators and student leaders – joined us for an on-the-ground tour. Led by a Palestinian and Israeli guide, the tour began in Jabal Mukaber in East Jerusalem where from a lookout point they saw the municipal boundaries of the city, the impact of the separation wall and discussed the civic inequalities such as the education system. They explored the complexities of Sheikh Jarrah and met with a member of the El-Kurd family, gained the legal perspective from GI leader Adv. Talia Sasson, and grappled with the tensions between integration and division into two sovereign capitals. By witnessing the situation first-hand, they learned about the shift towards a one-state reality and the urgency of actively working towards a two-state solution.
