On August 6th, twenty Russian-speaking Israelis met with historian, professor, and activist Alexander Yakobson over Zoom to discuss the principle of self-determination in modernity and the role it plays in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. How is self-determination for a people realized, and is it always? Is it possible to have an objective definition of peoplehood? These questions and more were tackled by Professor Yakobson in the context of the conflict, and resulted in a lively discussion with the participants from our Russian-speaking leadership course on the conflict.
