More than 35 Israeli journalists, opinion-shapers and young leaders joined us on 19th January for a special briefing on the situation in Gaza. A senior political figure based in the Strip, shared insights into the realities and fragilities of daily life, domestic political challenges and where public opinion stands currently. The Palestinian people – and the Gazan public – overwhelmingly support the two-state solution, he told the group, emphasizing that despite recent economic measures, a political process is the only way to fulfill Palestinian national aspirations. He referred to the Geneva Accord as a viable model. Other speakers included UNSCO adviser, Yoni Eshpar, and INSS political analyst, Dr. Shira Efron who shared assessments on international involvement and the Israeli strategy.
