More than 20 diplomats joined us on 9th November to see the political, territorial and human impact of the Israeli government’s recent settlement announcement. Conducted in partnership with Peace Now and led by Settlement expert, Hagit Ofran, the international representatives visited areas of planned growth that lie beyond the Geneva Initiative line, and will compromise the contiguity of a future Palestinian state. We visited Qalandiya checkpoint, Atarot industrial zone, then travelled north and saw a number of outposts, the Eli settlement, “Nof Avi”, Ariel (and the area where Ariel West will be built) as well as Barkan Industrial Zone.
The diplomats left with a sense of urgency regarding the need to act now to prevent further construction that will be detrimental to reaching a political settlement in the future. We are grateful for the commitment and partnership of the international community on the road to achieving the two-state solution.
