On Thursday 24th June, 15 female influencers including mayors, deputy mayors, city council members, journalists, educators and political activists participated in a tour of Jerusalem and its environs visiting a number of viewing points along a future border line. Led by Brig. Gen. (Res.) Ilan Paz, the group saw first-hand the harmful impact of settlement expansion on the contiguity of a future Palestinian State, including E1 and Givat Hamatos. They learned about possible solutions for the future of Jerusalem including the Geneva Accord and an open city model, the history of the separation barrier and its impact on Palestinian livelihoods, and the consequences of recent political developments from Sheikh Jarrah to Silwan.
The main takeaway from the tour was: Israel has no choice, it must stop controlling Palestinians and advance towards the two-state solution.
