On the 26th November, a new group of young Israeli leaders joined us for a workshop in Tel Aviv. The participants include city council members, young journalists, civil society leaders, women’s rights activists and religious leaders. The group heard from GI’s Israeli Director, Gadi Baltiansky about the “no partner” claim and how it has been used as an excuse for lack of progress on the peace process, as well as shared anecdotes from past negotiations. Dr Roni Porat, a political psychologist, presented the psychological obstacles to conflict resolution and how identity/belonging are intertwined with these interpretations. Former Palestinian minister for Prisoners Affairs, Ashraf al-Ajrami presented the current political developments, his perspective on the conflict and addressed narrative-claims and myths that have led to gridlock between the sides.
