Four of Israel’s most powerful allies have endorsed the Arab-backed reconstruction plan for Gaza, which promises significant investment, avoids mass displacement of Palestinians, and lays the groundwork for ending Hamas control of the Strip and empowering the Palestinian Authority for future governance of Gaza.
Plans for the day after must be based on pragmatic, concrete, and comprehensive frameworks that meet the fundamental needs and interests of both Palestinians and Israelis. The Cairo proposal provides an important basis for beginning that discussion, and we commend Germany, the UK, France, and Italy for advancing their support.
